Copyright & IP
Writers own their work
You keep ownership and copyright in everything you publish on 3types. Publishing here does not transfer your rights to us. We only take the licence needed to host, display, distribute, recommend and promote your work as part of running and marketing the platform, as set out in the Terms. We do not sell your work as our own or licence it to third parties for their own commercial use.
Before you publish
Only publish work you have the rights to, including cover images, epigraphs, lyrics and long quotations. Fan work and adaptations of other people's characters or worlds may infringe the rights of the original rights holder; publish that kind of work only where you are confident you are entitled to.
Reporting infringement
Email copyright@3types.app with:
- The URL of the content on 3types you say infringes.
- A description of the work you own, and where the original can be seen if it is online.
- Your name and contact details, and your relationship to the rights holder.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate.
You can also use the in-product report control and select the copyright reason, which puts the item in our moderation queue.
What we do
We review the notice and, where we conclude the content is likely infringing, we unpublish or remove it and notify the user who posted it. We do not act on notices that are incomplete or clearly abusive.
If your work was removed in error
Reply to the notice we send you, or email copyright@3types.app, explaining why you have the right to publish the work. We may reinstate it, and we may share your counter-notice with the complainant.
Repeat infringement
Accounts that repeatedly publish infringing material may lose publishing access, monetisation eligibility once payments exist, or the account entirely.
Plagiarism between users
Passing off another 3types writer's work as your own breaches our Content Guidelines even where no formal copyright notice is filed. Report it and we will look at it.
Founder input still required: designated agent name and postal notice address, and whether we adopt a formal notice-and-counter-notice timetable.
